!!!!Students!!!!
Are you interested in or doing research in environmental toxicology,
ecological risk assessment, contaminant analyses, environmental impacts,
site remediation? Want to meet other with similar interests, share your
work, broaden you area of expertise? Consider becoming a student member
of the North Atlantic Chapter of the Society of Environmental Toxicology
and Chemistry (NAC/SETAC)!
NAC/SETAC is a regional Chapter of SETAC encompassing the entire North
Atlantic region from New Jersey to Newfoundland. To reflect the
geographical diversity of our membership our annual meeting site rotates
ever year (e.g. Saratogo Springs, NY; Portland, Maine; Newport, RI;
Boston, MA). The size of our annual meetings enhances networking, puts
atmoshere for both socializing and lively scientific debate, keeping
members up to date on the rapidly evolving fields of environmental
chemistry and toxicology. Such meetings are espiecially helpfull to our
student members seeking exposure and future employment connections!
We just sponsored a very successful, well-attended short course at Boston
University on the Use of Sediment Quality Guidelines in the Assessment and
Management of Contaminated Sediments and are planning another short course
focused on Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) in conjunction with our 1999
annual meeting.
ALL MEMBERS recieve our semiannual newsletter and membership directory ,
vote on Chapter issues, and participate in chapter activities. In
addition, this year we are planning a number of small networking events
(dinner meetings, lab tours, social events, etc.). All this and more is
FREE FOR STUDENTS!!
STUDENT MEMBERSHIP in NAC/SETAC is FREE! We foster student involvement in
all aspects of Chapter activities, and have established Student Awards for best
oral and poster presentations at our annual meeting($125)!
I encourage you to join us by becoming a member (for FREE) - we hope to
see you at our 1999 annual meeting or short course! Please contact
Patti Tyler (781)860-4342 [email protected] for more information.
P.S. Get your membership application in by August 15th for inclusion in the
1998/1999 NAC-SETAC directory!
